A dark 90’s nostalgia ride

How do you capture a story set across two time periods with a dark and twisted narrative - without giving away any spoilers?

Working with showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, we developed a foundation for the main title built around the younger version of the Yellowjackets - what would it feel like if they had camcorders and filmed their experiences?

Adding in flashes from the tormented present day characters, and snippets of the story to come, we had all of the components necessary.

Using some old DV camcorders and experimental analogue glitch processing, we combined a mix of live-action footage shot by DK and b-roll captured on set to craft the grungy-pop, dirty look of the title sequence.

For Season 2, we ramped up the tension and dropped in even more easter eggs - or are they?

Viewers have been captivated by the title sequence and it's multiple, sometimes tenuous meanings. The 1990’s nostalgia mixed with doses of the present day has lead to countless hours of debate and discussion across the many fan communities born from the show.
