Narcos
The rise and fall of Pablo Escobar
For their original series about notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, Netflix needed an opening sequence that put the show’s themes and atmosphere front-and-center.
DK made an attention-grabbing main title that hooked viewers into the series and unveiled new secrets with every viewing. Using live-action footage, shot on location in Colombia, archival footage from the vaults of Escobar’s personal photographer, El Chino, and motion graphics, we built a paranoid travelogue that captured the essence and complexity of the drug trade. Our title presents the history and culture of drug trafficking through the lens of surveillance, revealing a hidden world of excess that is constantly on the verge of explosion.
Blending past and present, viewers were transported into the lavish, bloody, and violent rise of narco-trafficking, and America’s cultural and political addiction.
